In order to create a "workspace" for the pages we will be developing, you will need to have 2 windows open in your web browser. This will allow you to view this "tutorial" in one window and view your work in the other window.
NOTE: The reason to have two windows here is so that you can read the instructions for the lessons and easily view your working document. If you prefer, you could also bookmark this web page and jump back here via your Go (Netscape) or History (IE) menu.
We will be using a simple text editor, called Simple Text. Later, we will use one of the "other" HTML editors (i.e., Claris Home Page, Adobe PageMill) which allow you to work in a word processing environment, but it is best to learn HTML by working in "code". This way, when you need to enter the "code" from a WYSIWYG editor, you will be familiar with the language.
Finally, create a new directory/folder on your computer. You can call it workarea or myspace or whatever you like. Make sure that you keep all of your files in this one area... it will make organizing and transferring your work much easier.
