You made an incorrect decision - Type I Error

Your test/experiment said that there was a significant positive result when there was none. According to your results, people will use your test to incorrectly say there is an "effect" (or safe driving ability) when there is none (Null says no-one is able to drive or "no effect")

This is a FALSE POSITIVE.

This is the most dangerous type of error. There is risk to the general public. You said that you can pick out people who can drive with little risk of making an incorrect decision.

You claim to be 95% sure, or have set an Alpha Level (α) of .05, but still make an incorrect decision 5/100 times.

You can decrease the liklihood of a Type I Error by decreasing your alpha (α= .01)
